SEGNI FESTIVAL 2022: Thank you!

Dear spectators, artists and operators,

THANK YOU!

With a “sold out” at the Ariston Theater for the Dutch show “Lucky Luuk”, the 17th edition of SEGNI New Generations Festival ended last Sunday! It was nine intense and wonderful days in which more than 15,000 spectators of all ages were involved in performances, workshops, master classes and special events.

The festival this year had a great focus on the word “Respect” declined in the different themes addressed such as ecology, inclusiveness and sustainability. These themes perfectly represented by the Ant, the highly appreciated symbolic animal of this edition, were reinterpreted by the artists, the audience and the Teen and in a special way they were shared by all and sundry during the great Inauguration day that saw hundreds of people crossing the historic center of Mantua with the Pedal Ride of the Ant and the Fantastic Animals and then celebrating together the beginning of the festival in the beautiful setting of the Esedra of Palazzo Te.

A warm and heartfelt thank you then goes to all the sponsors, volunteers, staff and artists who contributed to the realization of this edition. A big thank you then goes to the families, teachers, children, boys and girls, and all those who enlivened the Festival venues.

SEGNI is a festival spread throughout the city and online! As always, the program of theater performances was vast, offering performances suitable not only for all ages but also for all tastes. Acrobats, dancers, musicians, actors trod the scenes of different city spaces, from the Ex Benedictine Convent in Alberti Square to the Ducal Palace Gallery, from Spazio Gradaro to Bibiena Theater and many others. Lots of new audiences for the increasingly inclusive online content: special content, podcasts, interviews, workshops and stories are still available to the public for free at segninonda.org. Until November 30!

SEGNI is an international festival! And among this year’s innovations guaranteed to be a great success are the “Masterclasses Pasta Madre”, conceived by Artistic Director Cristina Cazzola and dedicated to international operators in dialogue with teenagers: a place for learning and meeting that brought to the festival professionals from all over the world.

SEGNI is a transgenerational festival! This year teenagers were the real protagonists of the moments of debate and confrontation led by boys and girls from the Teen Community of SIGNS, led by Eduard Popescu: the “Spunti(ni) Critici” and the “Teen Kitchen Table” were appreciated opportunities for exchange and reflection with artists, operators and workers visiting Mantua.

SIGNS is a festival in constant evolution! Among the novelties of the festival, the pilot project Pavilion M -Z, curated by organizational director Monica Colella, was a great success, giving space to the innovation of languages and their dissemination. This included the exploratory workshop “Electric Forests” and the “Sleep Concert”: a unique event involving fifty people of all ages who, equipped with sleeping bags in an immersive musical performance lasting an entire night.

So, to you again a big THANK YOU and… The appointment is for the 18th edition of SEGNI New Generations Festival:

We look forward to seeing you next year, from October 28 to November 5, 2023.
