OPEN CALL – PROJECTS CO-CURATED BY TEENAGERS

Are you working on a project that involves teenagers not only as an audience, but as active co-curators in creative and cultural processes?

Within the ForesTEEN project we are mapping projects that give space to teenagers – not only on a creative level, but also in planning, organising and decision-making processes!

For full details and to apply for your project, please fill in the Google Form > https://forms.gle/ioTduxKRXCQRLqQQ8

It can be an exhibition, a festival, a workshop or any initiative within the creative sector (e.g. exhibitions, events, communication campaigns, merchandise design, etc.).

We are particularly interested in understanding how involving teenagers as co-curators – not only in creative roles, but also in organisational and decision-making functions – can foster deeper involvement and meaningful participation.

🚀 What we offer:

The opportunity for you, as project leader, and two teenagers who apply for the project to:

– Be present at the SEGNI Festival 2025 or 2026, either through programming or as part of a special presentation.

– The visibility of your project/organisation on the international ecosystem map.

– monthly online ForesTEEN meeting

– being invited to share your process during a Masterclass at the SEGNI Festival 2025 or 2026, connecting you with other practitioners.

– be visible in an international map of co-curated processes – shared, promoted and made accessible to the public.

– have a prominent place in the FORESTEEN Online Festival, a digital platform that connects teenagers who cannot travel with projects that inspire and engage them.

We believe in creating an equal space (physically and digitally!) for all generations to voice their opinions – allowing teenagers to be co-authors and decision-makers in culture, not just consumers.

đź—ş What we are doing

Our goal is to map and highlight projects and processes around the world that embody this approach. This effort is part of a broader strategy to better understand the ecosystem that makes teenage engagement in the creative sector meaningful and sustainable.

✨ What we mean by a co-curated process with the collaboration of teenagers

A co-curated process is a creative or cultural initiative that actively involves adolescents in both the development and implementation phases.

Key elements include:

– Adolescent participation: Adolescents are directly involved in the decision-making process.

– Collaborative approach: Adults and teenagers work side by side, combining skills and perspectives.

– Creative outcomes: Collaboration results in artistic or cultural events or productions.

– Shared leadership: Adults guide but also leave room for teenagers’ leadership and contributions.

Benefits:

– Empowers the voices and perspectives of young people

– Strengthens creative and critical thinking

– Encourages intergenerational collaboration

– Leads to unique, youth-led outcomes.

– Includes adolescents in advocacy processes
