New TEEN project adventure
After the experience with two European cooperation projects – T.E.E.N. Theatre European Engagement Network (2016-2018) and TEEN AMBASSADORS ACROSS EUROPE (completed in 2020), a third follow-up, large-scale project involving 12 countries has been undertaken in order to carry out research about the active involvement of teenagers in the theatre and to create a live/digital community at national/European level. The work implemented by Segni d’Infanzia through these projects over the last 5 years has been aimed at developing a methodology for “audience engagement” which is inclusive, flexible and sustainable. The intent is to create a programme of theatre shows for young audiences where co-curation plays an increasingly larger role.
The protagonists are young people aged 13-19, active spectators, TEEN Ambassadors, who attend theatre seasons and the most important European festivals, exchanging views with foreign peers, artistic directors and groups of teachers.
All discussions happen around the “Teen Kitchen Table” – a format designed and tested thanks to these projects, where teenagers lead the debate between all participants, who share visions, wishes, ideas and points of view.
We listen to the needs and opinions of young showgoers, we use their perspective to propose cu-curated performances and improve the offer for this target.
