📢 INTERNATIONAL CALL – OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG ITALIAN ARTISTS for residencies ‘EXIT THE ROOM’ 2025/2026 offered by CHAIN REACTION thanks to SEGNI FESTIVAL

Segni d’Infanzia is a partner in the EXIT THE ROOM project, supported by Erasmus+ funds, and will have the pleasure of hosting in Mantua one of the three training residencies planned for young artists and operators active in the performing arts for young audiences.

EXIT THE ROOM is a European project financed by the Erasmus+ programme that, from 2022 to 2027, promotes international exchange among young adults with an artistic interest, with the aim of making them protagonists in the creation of content and new forms of cultural mediation.

Aimed at theatre practitioners, programmers and cultural professionals working with young audiences, the project aims to build a vast network of Next Generation projects in European theatre for the younger generation by 2027.

The programme includes artistic residencies for Young Artists, with performative confrontations in partner festivals, and networking and in-depth meetings between professionals. At the centre is the experimentation of new formats of dialogue between young people and theatre and the strengthening of links between emerging artists and established figures, through workshops, comparisons and exchanges.

The programme offers three residencies with travel, board and lodging covered (value: € 3,000 per participant):

📍 Mantua (IT) – Segni d’infanzia Festival | 3-10 November 2025
📍 Frankfurt (DE) – Starke Stücke Festival | 23 February-1 March 2026
📍 Graz (AT) – Spleen Festival | 10-20 April 2026

📌 Who can participate? Artists, theatre practitioners, pedagogues between 15 and 25 years of age, interested in the dialogue between theatre and new generations.

• What are the themes and artistic forms of the Next Generation?
• What tools and platforms do emerging artists need to develop their art?
• How can theatre relate to its context?
• How do artists interact with the cities in which they operate?

Each season, an international group of young artists participates in three residencies in three different cities. Along the way, they engage with international artists and producers, attend professional performances dedicated to young audiences and reflect on their content, while developing their own artistic projects.

The third and final residency ends with original try-outs presented at an international festival. A concrete opportunity to get involved, create and share visions with the audience and the artistic community.

The 2024/25 season involved young participants recommended by the following partner institutions:
Bravo! Festival, “Starke Stücke”-Festival, TaO! – Theater am Ortweinplatz and Westwind Festival.
